“St Paul’s West, South, East and North, Quadriptych” is a composition of 4 figurative acrylic paintings on canvas, each in a white floating tray frame, designed to be viewed together. Each canvas is 51 x 76 x 2 cm (20 x 30 x 3/4 inches) Each frame size is 55 x 80 x 3.5 cm (21.5 x 31.5 x 1.5 inches) Framed and hung together, the work measures 235 x 80 x 3.5 cm cm (92.5 x 31.5 x 1.5 inches)
Painted in the studio, the paintings depict London’s greatest historic landmark, the dome of St Paul’s Cathedral, designed by Sir Christopher Wren. The work explores experience and perception through changing context, viewing the dome from different locations in different light conditions.
The paintings are architecturally accurate, the impressionistic feel created by applying the paint using a scraping technique with a palette knife.
The paintings are built up in layers using acrylic paint, with a gloss uv varnish.
The images continue around the sides of the canvas. Each canvas is signed individually and comes with a signed and dated Certificate of Authenticity.
